This years activities were:

  • the Pulpit walk,
  • thermal insulator science investigation,
  • ‘survival’ shelter building,
  • pond dipping,
  • finding and categorising bugs,
  • river study,
  • team building activities.

We can’t wait for next years residential already!!

Mrs Davies’s Spring Term 1 Class News!

Year 4, 5 & 6

Stargazers!

What a fantastic start to the New Year! We have settled back into school after our Christmas break and have been busy bees!  We have started a fantastic topic, ‘Stargazers!’ We have been fascinated by this topic so far and all the children have found it really interesting! So far we have researched space, answered tricky numeracy problem solving questions, interrogated a database and have written a report on a planet. We have also completed fun challenges everyday so you can check these out on our SeeSaw accounts! There’s plenty more to find out when we come back after half term and we can’t wait!

The year 5&6’s went on their fun filled residential trip to Margam Park! We had an amazing time and enjoyed all the activities! We were able to go on a beautiful walk in the sunshine, find and categorise bugs, go pond dipping, complete a survival day and do lots of fun science activities! It’s an amazing experience for the children and we can’t wait to go next year already!

We hope everyone has a lovely half term! Don’t forget to keep up to date with what is going on in class with ‘SeeSaw’ and ‘Class Dojo.

Mrs Quinn’s Spring Term 1 Class News!

Reception/Year 1

Our topic for this term is ‘Paws, Claws and Whiskers’ and we have had lots of fun finding out about pets and learning about what they need and how to look after them.

Our first visitor was Henry, Mrs Quinn’s cocker spaniel. Henry was the first customer into our class vets and sat very still while Vet Preston gave him a thorough health check.

We went on a little visit to the fabulous Ty Nant Cat Sanctuary in Cymmer to find out about the work they do to look after cats and kittens and find them a forever home. Thank you all for your kind donations; they were gratefully received by Ty Nant.

Eliza brought in her Tortoises Bruce and Eric for a visit. They spent the day with us and were totally spoilt rotten, with the children feeding them healthy treats, making dens for them and building them an assault course.

We didn’t make it to Noah’s Ark Zoo Farm this week due to the nasty storm, but we have rearranged it for after half term when hopefully the weather will be better for an outdoor visit. We can’t wait to meet and interview the Tiger Keeper in preparation for next half terms project.

Have a lovely half term everyone.
